WHY FAILURE IS IMPORTANT FOR SUCCESS

How many of us have given up one after one or two tries at something? I know so many of us, me inclusive, who hate failure. By the way, who likes failure? I don’t think any normal human being, likes failure. It is in our nature to win or to want to win because we carry God’s D.N.A in us. That’s right, Psalms 82:6a says ‘I said ye are gods and all of you are children of the most high.’ So we have the nature of God in us especially once you have accepted Jesus as Lord and savior and are born again. John 3:3. Before you start saying ‘here is one of those fanatics again’, please read this article through.
Even though we are supposed to possess the nature of God, which is also the winning nature, most of us if not all of us have given up that nature for the human or carnal nature which is the weak nature and thereby the losing nature. So although we all want to win, many are not ready for the journey that leads to success. The journey to success is usually plagued with setbacks and a lot of failure and as such few people succeed because most people tend to back out. Persistence has always been a trademark of the successful. From Abraham Lincoln who lost so many things in his life I wonder how he kept going right down to Donald Trump who has also gone bankrupt a couple of times. If you know both men I have just cited, you will know that these are people that are usually looked upon as successful.  To many people, success will always remain a myth because most people dream it but don’t want to put the effort necessary to be it.
So why is failure important in the journey of success?
First, because man grows overtime and usually learns by experience. Some lessons are only learnt by experience and sometimes unless you have failed at something, you wouldn’t know the right way to go about it. I remember the story of how Thomas Edison failed over a thousand times before finally succeeding at creating the light bulb. Speaking about this, he said that he considered that he had never failed; he had just learned one thousand ways of not making the light bulb. what a positively fab outlook!
Second, failure is important because we do not live for ourselves; we live for our family, loved ones God and the society. Your failures become a lesson for others to come. You fail so that other people may learn from you. I know this may sound very altruistic but it is true. How many times have you read a story of someone’s failure in an area and you were inspired to not act the way the person acted before the failure or you were inspired that failure does not mean the end of the world? You see, you are a much bigger entity than you can imagine and your life is not for you alone.
Third, one of the ways in which the human spirit grows when it is tried and tested. It’s like a boxing champion, the more he fights and trains, the more he develops muscles and becomes stronger. So when you fail, and you don’t give up but continue in your journey, you become stronger and your spirit develops the ability to apprehend things better than you could before.
Whether you want to succeed as a Christian or in your life in general, you have got to accept that sometimes you will fall or fail but you shouldn’t stay there; rise up and dust yourself and continue. Fail or fall forward. So embrace your mistakes and your failures and remember a righteous man has the ability to rise seven times even if he falls seven times.
