Rosales who is 34, has been on a weight loss journey since 2011. She had previously confessed to smothering her nephew thereby leading to his death. But autopsy reports proved that the little boy died from multiple injuries on his skull.
Her sister then confessed to the murder and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. After this tragic event, the young woman vowed to lose weight in order to take care of her sister's surviving kids.
She had previously been dubbed "half ton killer" due to the fact that she initially wanted to take the fall for her sister's crime. She says she was willing to die for her sister, Jamie who had begged her to take the fall for the murder which she had witnessed.
Mayra lost weight with the help of 11 pain-staking surgeries. She had a lap band surgery and extra skin removal procedures. The weight loss process has been a long and difficult one but she says she is happier with herself now.
She has also had to change the way she thought about food.
‘Food to me is I have to eat to live,’ she said. ‘Before it was living to eat, and now you know, it’s just something normal,’ she told ABC 13.She now weighs 200lbs approximately 100kg and can walk and live normally. Also, she says she no longer has any health issues like diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. She is healthy.
